Hissing cans of beer, songs, how they could run on the radio: If one knows only the normal Kichen-worship, one will be surprised by the "Jesus Freaks" fairly.
For organ and church liturgy will be not here. Of their spiritual orientation, one could describe it as a charismatic evangelical. Their goal: to live without compromise the faith. The name means both "fan of Jesus."
Unusual: The "Jesus Freaks" it can happen that you hear during the worship service the hiss of beer cans.
As you read lately a lot of negative things about those groups, I have visited them and made my own picture. Here is immediately apparent: Many "Jesus Freaks" are also externally designed. No one here has a suit and tie.
It's not about outward appearance was as a pious, but everyone is welcome, as it is. You are needed, a Christian revivalist movement, the elements of youth culture, and in 1991 in Hamburg by Martin Dreyer (44) was established.
As an example, the resulting from the hippie culture "is Jesus People" movement of the 1960s and 70s from the U.S.. Since 1991, the membership is steadily growing in Germany. Currently there are about 2000 "Jesus Freaks".
"For us there is no pressure, no charge attitude. The heart, the inner man, plays a big role, "explains Susanne B. (46) from Herbornseelbach from the" Jesus Freaks-Dillkreis "in Dillenburg. Timo W. (34) supplemented from casting: "Here there is great openness. Here I am so taken up as I am and do not fall down the back. "
Their worship is entirely without coercion and liturgy. Everything is very free. There will be singing songs, some of which could run up to the text just as good on the radio.
This time is "worship called. God is praised and adored. This is too emotional. One has the feeling that faith is a living thing.
Of what it's all about here, is Jesus. For the freaks, it is clear that he was resurrected after his death, and now by his * Holy Spirit lives in us. The stated goal is: more like Jesus. And with all the possible consequences.
"Jesus is my foundation, the purpose of my life," admits Susan. For the freaks, Jesus was "a homeless itinerant preacher, the blatant actions of the launch, and was denounced as a drunkard." He had but one thing above all: love for every human being.
Out of sheer organization, institutionalization and theology often one gets a very complex picture of God. For the freaks you feel the man who founded Christianity, again much closer.
In Cologne they exist: Leyendeckerstrasse 27 (www.jesusfreakskoeln.de). Here, every Sunday at 19 clock service.
